Scratch off date #1

For an anniversary gift, Chad bought us a scratch off date adventure book. I'll admit, for some reason its hard to commit to doing the challenges, but we decided we'd do whatever we chose to scratch off. We picked one with food, so it can't be too weird right? This was the one we scratched off.
We picked the lovely city of EUREKA to go visit! While we were there, I had to go visit the mine where a gruesome crime from my town took place. Breezy and Riley were brutally murdered at the opening of a mine shaft and pushed down the shaft, to hopefully never be seen again. Someone cracked and told police where they were. And it was in this small sleepy town that they chose to dump their bodies. There is a huge memorial outside the blocked off mine shaft. It was a somber place to visit.

Next up was lunch at B's hangout. It was really good food and we were nearly the only ones in the restaurant. I'd seriously go again!

Next, we drove around town checking out alot of old creepy buildings. How is this building even standing still?

This church is just cute and charming.
We window peeked at some of the museum windows since alot of them were closed. They were full of mining gear since this is the history of their town.
Cute Main St where our friends restaurant is at - Cast Iron Bistro. We swung in and picked up some home made chicken pot pie for dinner. It was yummy!

Porter Rockwells cabin was transported to this town. Pretty amazing.

It was a good time here in Eureka!

On the way home we learned that the $10,000 that had been stollen through card fraud would earlier that week would be returned to us. We chatted with the fraud department and they explained to us how they got our info and how sick and relentless these guys are! I am SO glad we were able to get this money back. So it was a happy ride home!

BMX graduation

Carter set a goal in May to get 10 wins and graduate the beginner level. It takes some kids several seasons to accomplish this, and on the last night of outdoor racing, he accomplished it!
I love that BMX makes a big deal about this. The race always stops and they are met at the finish line with their final certificate and welcome to intermediate sign. I was so proud of him and working hard all summer at it!
We of course had to get a picture of all his 1st place trophies and medals. On to Intermediate we go! Good luck bud! Set your sights high and go accomplish your goals!

Fall Fun

Our kids almost think they are too big to go have fun at fall festivals so I bribed them with donuts and that did the trick. Rylee of course had a blast and Brielle too.
Carter and Mollie even had some fun but they won't admit it.

This big tube was fun for all!

And we talked everyone into going on a train ride.

We even got lost in the corn maze for a bit. And then the thing we all came for! Cider donuts. They are SO good and just melt in your mouth. Yum!

A good time was had by all even though my big kids didn't think they would. I love fall and all the fun fall things!

Solar Eclipse and end of season

None of my pictures really did it justice, but there was a lot of hype around the Oct 14th Solar Eclipse. I feel like these events are becoming more and more common....a sign of the times maybe.
Mollie had a game at the exact moment of the eclipse and so I sat in the weird grey light and watched from my camp chair. It really is pretty cool to see. But within minutes, it was over and we all went on with our lives. Unless you were stuck in the crazy line of traffic of sun chasers.
These girls finished their fall season strong and stayed in the premier league for spring.  They grow in leaps and bounds every season and I can't wait to see what they will do next spring.

Great job girls!
