Fun packed Memorial Day weekend!

We kicked it off with getting to go back to the temple with Carter! We invited Sorensons to go with us and it was surprising to see that Jace is finally taller than Carter! Man these boys are handsome!!! It was a really special day. Then we went to Olive Garden.

The next day my brother Adam came in town to celebrate his birthday and the holiday. We went to TopGolf and R&R BBQ. It was a fun day! 

Poor Wren was not feeling well and had a rough time. 

The rest of the evening we played corn hole and BB!q'd with neighbors. It was a really nice and relaxing weekend. 

A water fight may have broke out for a minute too!

And our NEIGHBORS! <3! We have the most fun parties together! We just really enjoy these people and love that we get together and all have fun. And it was hard to think that it might be one of our last. 

We started looking at options of possibly moving this weekend. We put an offer on a home but found out we didn't get it. We then decided we might build so we got on a list to do that. Then prices soared and we decided we were just going to stay put for now. It was too much of an emotional rollercoaster! And we love our neighborhood so we were content.....for that moment. We had NO idea what would be coming! 

 

Last day of school

We got home from our trip just in time to pick up the kids from school. It happened to be fire truck day! Its the funnest day of the year...but it was a little cold this year. 

We let the kids have friends over to celebrate the last day. Lots of water activities went on and they all had a great time i think.

Welcome Home

We returned home mid afternoon to the cutest welcome home sign and lots of cute pics. It was just Rylee at home because the others were at school. I know she was loving the one on one time. 

They did arts and crafts while we were gone. 

And made cookies. 

Played games. 

Went to the park.

Roasted hot dogs

And stuffed as many marshmallows in their mouths as they could. I don't think they wanted us to come back! I'm so grateful to my parents for taking such good care of the kids and helping make our trip possible. We really were able to enjoy ourselves, knowing our kids were in good hands. Thanks mom and dad!!!

 

Day 4 INDIANA

We started out the day with breakfast in the cutest little shop with delicious food! The ceiling was covered with umbrellas and there was a mug wall with all sorts of different mugs. 

Then we took Clyde and Evelyn to the office for their meeting. Here they are in their element. 

We stuck around to meet their mission president and then we took off while they had their meeting. 

We drove down to the Indianapolis temple and walked around. It was still closed, but it was nice to be there. Then we went and did a little shopping and found souvenirs for our kids. 

When we picked up our missionaries, we went down town to the heart of Indianapolis. 

We had planned to go to paddle boats and found ourselves unexpectedly at this 9/11 memorial. These 2 steel pieces were actual parts of the twin towers. There was a touching poem on a plaque about how we need to be united like were were on 9/12. Helping everyone no matter their race, religion or color. It was special. 

We found the paddle boats and hopped on and went for a ride! It was fun to see the city that way. Chad and I peddled while C&E enjoyed the ride. It was hot and I was sweaty!

You could go for a gondola ride but they were pricey! But fun idea!

We then visited the Soldier and Sailors Monument at Monument Circle. It was hard to believe that just months earlier it had been vandalized and looted and littered with shattered glass. They were recovering nicely but I was curious and looked up specific pictures of the vandalism and it was crazy to see it in that state. Some businesses were still boarded up. 

We visited the capitol building which was also vandalized. 

Then we were starting to get hungry so we went to get some food! Their fire hydrants are all sorts of colors down there and I liked this one so I took it's picture. 

We passed the stadium where the Colts play so the guys needed to stop for a picture. 

We ate at City Barbeque and the food was mostly good. Not as good as any of us were hoping for. 

And then immediately after, we had to go get ice cream. Clyde raved about the lem-oreo ice cream here. Lemon and oreo.....weird. 

Our last stop of the evening was for more donuts for our breakfast for the following morning. We didn't want to leave but we knew we had to get back some time. And I'm SO thankful we could go visit!

It was an early morning, but these Amish Crack donuts made it so much better. Good Bye Indiana! See you in a few months Elder & Sister Hymas!
