The flu is something MOMS should not be able to get. We don't have time for it. We are too busy and take care of too many other people to have to stay in bed for 2 days. But the flu just ignores that and enters our bodies anyway. This is my THIRD bought with the flu since I have been pregnant in the last 7 months. As I sit here my muscles are as tight as rubberbands waiting to be snapped. My sides ache and the whites of my eyes are almost completely red from broken blood vessels. I hurt all over. But yet i can't help but feel joy from the service I received from my family as I lay in bed for two days.
Mollie happened to have her 2 year old shots monday morning and it was absolutely horrifying for her. She wouldnt walk and had to be carried everywhere. I was doing my best to care for her when i could tell my body was starting to feel funny. By 2 o'clock I was knocked out flat on my back in bed sick as a dog. My dear loving husband just picked up where I left off. He did the dishes and fed the kids and got them ready for bed while waiting on me hand and foot and carrying Mollie everywhere he went because she didnt want to be left behind and still wasnt walking.
Before the kids went to bed they came and sang me songs and gave my hugs and kisses. Carter gave me 3 red paper hearts that he got at church on sunday to give to people who are being kind. I dont know that I was being very kind at the moment sprawled out on our tiny bathroom floor, but I could tell he was feeling love and compassion for me and that was his way of showing it. He told me he loved me over and over and rubbed my arm as he sat by me. He helped get towels and bowls and food or whatever I needed. He kept talking about how him and dad were taking care of the girls.
Later that night Chad laid by me while I moaned and groaned in pain and cleaned up mess after mess that I made. It wasn't pretty folks. And ignored the awful smells from puke in my hair, bad breath, to other horrible things. The next day he cleaned the house and did the shopping so i could still host my Scentsy party later that night. He must really love me. It's times like this where I am weak and helpless that I see perfect love shine through. Not that I dont see it other times in our marriage and family, but true service when its really needed can lift the poorest of souls and help anyone feel loved. I love this man. I love my kids. Our lives aren't perfect and we get the flu, but we are happy and we love each other. And that, friends, is all that really matters.
