Day 2 in Vegas

What did I do for my last day of being 39? Lay by the pool and soak in those sun rays that I wanted to do all trip long! This was our sunniest day and it still wasn't quite as warm as I hoped, but I welcomed it. I laid by the pool and let my kids play. Chad of course was the fun dad and played with the kids for a long time in the pool.

I brought lots of yummy things to make fun drinks with and the kids were all fans of my pina coladas. We had some other fun frozen drinks throughout the week.

Breakfast was out to IHOP and we let the kids get whatever they wanted. The restaurant was full of Chinese tourists, but we got there just in time when they were all about ready to leave.
Next up was the Hollywood Cars museum. Alot of these cars were used in movies or were replicas. We found a lot of cool ones! Here's the DeLorean from Back to the Future!
Batmobile
Umm I've never seen this movie, but I really wanted to take this for a spin with my friends! A Pink limo! Complete with a heart shaped HOT TUB in the back!

Batman and Robin's side car motercycle
I loved all the cars from the movie Cars! Hi Doc and Mater!
Then in the back was a Libberace museum. I had no idea who this guy was, but a quick google search taught me he was a fancy man with way too much money that what was good for him. Still, it was fun to look at all the sparkly things.
Hello Fred Flinstone car! The kids had no idea what this was all about.
Next we visited Red Rock Canyon National Park. It was cool to see all the red rock and formations. We could drive the loop and stop and see what each visit along the way had to offer. There were hikes and cool things to see all along the way.

I really wanted to hike, but to keep everyone happy, we didn't. But I'm glad we drove out to see it.
Next was the arcade and Mini Grand Prix speedway.
The littles had fun doing arcade games and the slower go karts. The big boys had to do the really fast one.
The girls ordered pizza and waited while the boys rode. Pizza wings!

All in all, it was a great day! As I went to bed, I thought back over the 30 years of my life and the large milestones that stood out to me. Most of them revolve around family and vacations and making memories together. I'm glad I have this vacation to add to the memories of my 40th year of life.

40th Birthday week in Las Vegas

Chad asked me what I wanted to do for my 40th birthday and I just told him i wanted to be somewhere warm. I was kind of thinking St George, but it can be iffy on warmth in the spring. So I decided to go further south to Las Vegas. I for sure thought it would be warm. We shipped the dog off to the babysitter and hit the road with a very packed car!
It's always exciting when the strip comes into view. Some of those buildings are just amazing!
We rented a house with a pool so that we could just relax and play. And that is just what we did.
Our first morning in Vegas we hit the strip early. We had things to do and places to go! We gave the kids all the warnings of stay with us, don't talk to strangers, don't take anything from anyone and divert your eyes if necessary. I was pleased with how this first day went in that catergory.

We went right down town to the Hersheys, Coke and M&M stores. We explore Marshalls for a bit and the kids were amazed it was underground! I had to buy some new shorts as I learned that jean shorts aren't the thing to wear in hot and humid places when you're doing a lot of walking!

The kids were amazed at all the fun things to look at. I mean a statue of liberty completely from licorice?! What!

And a hershey chocolate bottle half the size of your body?!

And so many fun photo ops.

At the coke store we did the tasting tray from cokes around the world. Not worth it...so many were GROSS!!

M&M store is always fun and exciting.
We found another BSU fan there too sporting the orange!
We did the Big Apple roller coaster and New York New York and had to ride it twice because its that great!

After lunch we were headed to the Boise State game that was being played at the MGM Grand! What a coincidence that they were there the same time as us! We had some trouble getting tickets and accidentally bought the wrong ones, and lost some money in the process. Chad was upset but I just told him he can now say he's lost $200 in Vegas and didn't even gamble!

Carter got picked for a 3 pt competition at half time. He did so good but ended up losing to an older girl just barely.
Later we went to the Blue Man Group show. Oh man it was silly. I loved watching my kids faces in amazement as they came up with the craziest things to do. They all said this was one of their favorite things.
Phew and that was just day 1! We have four more days to go!!

Anniversary Take 2

We had wanted to do a get away for our anniversary but our schedule was too busy to allow for one. But a few weeks later we decided to do it anyway! We got a good recommendation about a steak house called Timbermine and it was amazing! It looks like an old mining building and is decorate so cool and you seriously feel like you stepped into the woods to have a dinner. Its so cool and SO good.

Chad surprised me with a cute little cabin in Ogden canyon. It was the cutest cabin with a big tub and a big bed. We were surprised with chocolate covered strawberries and candles and flower petals all around.

We had a lovely evening together. Then we got breakfast delivered right to our front door and it was really yummy. I might have had some of my dessert from dinner from the night before too.....

It had snowed and all around us looked like a winter wonderland. It was so pretty!

We loved our time at the Alaskan Inn. Love you Chad!!!

Just some things

Ugh, Carter had another bad BMX crash. Poor guy is going to have road rash scars on top of scars! He's always so great to hop up and not complain and get back on the bike. Sure makes me cringe though!
I graduated from my pink cast on on March 4th! I was so happy I took myself for ice cream.
The girls played their last game together and did so great.
Carter had a random day off of school so I took him on a date to the Garage Grill. He loved every aspect of it. Its a really cool place! And those onion rings! Oh MY!

This kid has GOT to stop growing up on me! I really enjoyed the day with him.
