TEN year

Has 10 years really already passed?! How was I sitting in the above picture TEN YEARS AGO? Can it be true?!
Yes it can.

We had 17 of the 250 members show up for up for dinner at Moreys Steak house. I really was dreading going just for fear of how it would be, but I really ended up enjoying myself!

Later that night we met up with a bunch more classmates at a sports bar and it was good to catch up!
The next day a handful more came to the family picnic.

The loss of a great man....

June 20, 2013 was a nightmare of a day for some. Brian Hymas, my husbands cousin, passed away. He was with his buddy in an airplane accident and the piolot and him were both killed at the scene. He was only 43.
It was a pure miracle that his son survived the accident with a few serious injuries and was consious for the whole thing. When the plane was going down, Brian turned to his son and said, "Please tell your mom and your siblings how much I love them."
Here is his beautiful wife and family the day of the funeral.
I am a better person for knowing these two. Brian was a hard worker and dedicated in all he did. The love that him and Ann shared was something I wanted to aspire to in my marriage. He was incredible in all aspects of life and will be missed so much.
Although it was for a sad reason, most of the Hymas family got to be together for the weekend and we really enjoyed seeing everyone. Family is so special! Glad we can be together forever. On the way home from the funeral it stormed really hard. Then the clouds parted and incredible sunshine rays burst through in front of us. It was a beautiful scene and I felt like Brian was sending us a message of peace from above.

Camping in Logan canyon

My family tried out a new spot for camping this year to split the distance between utah and idaho a little better. This spot was really nice except we were RIGHT next to a busy canyon road. But loved all the shade and would try it out again!
The kids got lots of attention since we had the only kids who were able to come
And what's camping with out lots of games and good food?
 And playing in the stream?

It's clear my kids love their grandparents and uncles.

Even if they do wear grown up footie pajamas.
Carter got plenty messy between playing in the dirt and eating cherries
and Mollie too. (Trying on granpas fishing hat)
Carter had one crash on his bike and scraped up his lip. So he spent some time on grandpas Ipad while he recovered.
It was a nice relaxing trip and it was wonderful to get away after the stress from the job change. I love camping and hope we can go again this summer before its over!

Lagoon!!

We got to take a fun trip to Lagoon in June with my parents and brother and his fiance. I didn't know how the kids would do in the heat and if they would want to ride the rides but they did awesome! Carter loved every ride and giggled the whole time through most of them. He loved the big roller coasters and even put his hands in the air. He's fearless!!
The weather was perfect and we all really enjoyed ourselves despite spending most of the time in kiddy land. Im still not sure who enjoyed it more, the kids or Grandpa!

Be Still, My Soul

Last week in church we sang the opening song of Be Still, My Soul. I couldn't help it as tears streamed down my cheeks because my soul was anything but still.

Be Still my soul: The lord is on thy side
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God to order and provide
In Every change he faithful will remain
Be still my soul Thy best thy Heavenly friend
Thu thorny ways leads to a joyful end

Rewind to two weeks ago.
We have known for some time that the Kennicot Molybdinum company that Chad has been working at here in Utah was in trouble. To make a really long story short, the company ran out of money. It wasn't built when we accepted the job and it STILL isn't complete 6 months later! The company goes to France or somewhere to get more money and had already been back once. We kept receiving assurance that his job was safe. Chad was inspired to apply for two jobs that week.

Then the fateful day came that the company just couldn't do it anymore and lay offs were coming our way. For the last 2 weeks I have been sick to my stomach just waiting for his meetings to determine what would happen to us. Wednesday at 1:00 came and I felt nothing but peace wash over me. I didn't know what would happen but I knew it would be ok.

As of June 30 he was terminated with the Moly plant. BUT the company worked so hard to find other jobs to transfer the good workers to. Several were laid off but I'm happy to say that Chad was one who they wanted to transfer to another part of the mine. He was offered a job with Kennicott Copper Co at the concentrator. Pay and benefits stay the same! He doesn't start his new job until next monday July 8th but it really sounds like a good job and we hope it will be! The only down side is it is about a 45 minute commute so a move still may be in our future but for now we are so grateful to have a job and to have had our faith strengthened through this trial. Nothing has come of the other 2 job interviews yet.

Be still my soul, They God doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past
Thy hope thy confidence let nothing shake
All now mysterious shall be bright at last
Be still my soul, the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

During this scary time for our family, we also received some awful news. Chads cousin, who was more like a brother, was killed in a freak airplane crash in Idaho Falls along with the pilot. His cousins 13 yr old son was also in the plane and some how survived with quite a few injuries. This week has been a heart wrenching week for the Hymas family. Brian Hymas was an incredible man who helped so many people and worked as hard as he could. He was only 43 and he will be missed so much. We got this news the day before the sacrament meeting mentioned above.

Be still my soul, the hour is hastning on
When we shall be forever with the lord
When disappointment, grief and pain are gone
Sorrow forgot, loves purest joys restored
Be still my soul when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

I know Heavenly father knows what we need and takes care of us more than we know. I am so blessed and forever grateful to Him.
