Nitro Circus

For the last weekend of summer we knew we needed to do something fun! The Soreneson's invited us to go to the Nitro Circus that was coming to town! Jace had a game in Grantsville so we went to some of his game, went to lunch and then hit the nitro circus!
These guys are totally nuts with the stunts, tricks and height they fly. Mesmerizing to watch!
It was hot but we found some decent seats and $10 drinks! I was trying to take some pictures but it was so bright I couldn't see that there was a filter on!
We giggled lots when we looked at these pictures later and noticed all the silly filters.
Carter and Jace were in racer heaven! And I know I've said it, but it makes me so happy when these 2 get together and just fall back to when they were little and best buds with no problem. I snapped this cute one of them sharing a chair.
We went over to for the rally car event and those guys are even crazier and really fun to watch.

Sadly, we had to rush out of there so Chad could say the prayer in Stake Conf. but it was a really fun day and we always love being with the Sorensons!

Max Cup

When its blazing hot in the summer that means its soccer tournament time! Mollie's team played in the Murray Max cup mid August. It was warm but we actually had pretty mild weather and even got rained out one game.
They fought so hard. We lost a lot but won a few too. Going into our last game we knew we'd have to score 9 goals to be able to place. That is a pretty far stretch for soccer and for this team. Well these girls are fighters and with more than half of those goals by half time we knew we had to go for it! The other team was not happy about us running up the score, but its a tournament! So we had to. Especially when it comes down to point differential. Goals 7 and 8 flew right it! And we knew time was short so we were getting nervous. MOLLIE got the ball and went for most of the length of the field and scored! SECONDS later the ref blew the whistle calling the game. WHEW!!! WE DID IT! Just barely. 9 goals and a last second one by my daughter! That got us into the playoff, which we lost.
But we still got to go to the podium for 2nd place in the Max Cup and the girls all got silver medals.
I love that they get these celebrity opportunities! So fun and so proud of these girls!!

Way to fight sis! You are becoming quite the little soccer player. Keep it up and stay strong!

A few awesome things

Carter reading his scriptures. That is awesome.
A very AWEsome bug bite...or something.
Painting dads toenails was pretty awesome for Mol.
My girls love to do my hair recently and I think it's pretty awesome.

And it's pretty awesomely great when we get a train of it going on.
Sunsets are awesome and make me happy.
And 4 kids with clean teeth (one had cavities) are pretty awesome.
For cubs one day we got to meet the mayor and take a tour of City Hall. I thought that was pretty awesome and was impressed with the Mayor for taking such good care of my boys.
I'm grateful daily for my AWESOME AWESOME life.

Oh PHIL!

I sorta freaked out when I learned Phil Vassar was coming to TOOELE! I know most of his songs and grew up listening to him so much! I Just HAD to go. So I got all prettied up to have a night out on the town and just as I was finishing up a certain 8 year old walked in and said," Mom you look like a pirate." But apparently I was a pretty pirate. HAH!
Chad and I got there early and took advantage of the yummy fair food.
When Alex got there we wandered over to look at the swag station. The lady running it told us to look over there and he was just right there in front of us doing a meet and greet! WOW! We were both a little star struck.
Since this is what Alex wanted to do for her b day we figured we HAD to get some matching hats since we were the only ones who would commit to going to the concert. We are forever Philbillys now.
The opening act was Carver Louis! I knew he was a local but had never heard his music and he was incredible! We opted to get right up there during his show so we'd have a good seat for Phil. We really ended up liking his music. Talented kid.

During the break, I held up my arrow birthday sign over Alex's head and the MC's called her up and the whole place sang her happy birthday! She was so excited!
And you can't have a concert with out glow thingys! So I provided those. Chad had his own glow thingy I guess!

Another great moment was when William caught a t-shirt! He opened it up to find it was a bud light shirt. Aw well. He wore it anyway! HA!
Finally it was time!!!! Phil came on and he looked great, he sounded exactly like his tracks and the show was incredible! He sang all my favs and only a few I didn't know. Chad and William weren't too familiar with him but Alex and I sang every song as loud as we could. Good times!

He plays standing up most the time and he really gets into it. It was amazing watching his hands move so quick and he had every song memorized! So much talent! He even played the piano while playing a harmonica!

It was all incredible until some fiesty girl came and stood right in front of Alex. I was now next to some blonde girl. I kindly asked her if she could scoot over because my friend was there first and had been for the whole show. She said - UMMM NO. WHAT?!!!?!??! I screamed at her RUDE! I made sure she didn't enjoy the rest of the show and let her know that she had made the wrong girl mad. Eventually I worked my way back in front of her so Alex could get her spot back. SOME PEOPLE!

The show ended and we were sad but my voice was disapearing so it was time to go. His whole band really is incredible.
A little birdie at the swag tent also told us to stick around after the show because he will sign everyone who wants it stuff, take pics, hug and hand shake til the crowd dies down. And we did! And it paid off! There I am just a few feet from him. I stuck my hand out and he grabbed it!! WOOHOO!!

And yep he signed both of our hats. So cool. What a good guy to give love to his fans like that!

And just to document it, we had to take pics of our birthday signs we made. Phil also gave a quick and quiet shout out to Alex. How kind of him to notice and care! It made her night! And mine.

I'm grateful for this crazy up for anything friend who has filled a hole in my life. She's so much fun and only knows how to party BIG. Our hubs were good supporters of us and joined in the fun. What a night! I will always remember this one!

Read with the Bees

In early summer the kids started several summer reading charts. One for the Library and one for the SLC Bees! Their charts were a baseball diamond and as you rounded each base with your reading minutes you earned prizes. The homerun prize was free tickets to the Bee's Game!

The Ogilvie Fam did the same reading program so we decided to make a family night of it! The also received a free book as we were walking into the stadium. Along with Happy Meal coupons and a foam finger! (Those were trash by the end of the game.)
We opted to sit on the lawn - which was super uncomfortable - but we did it to be by our friends. The kids had a blast just running around and playing with their foam fingers.
It was a really nice night for a game and there's just something that says summer when you're sitting under baseball lights!
 We were really TAN!
Proof C&M were there too. Carter thought it was pretty cool I think.

It was a nice evening but we did end up leaving a little early. Glad we could experience it but it was kinda boring and I don't know if we will go back or not.
