For our last day on the water we wanted to get there early and get the best spot! So we were all up early, food packed, boat packed and we hit the road! We decided to go back to Lake Roosevelt because we all enjoyed it so much the first time. My heart sank as we pulled into the parking lot to TONS AND TONS of trucks and trailers. There were SO many people there!
We got in the water fairly quickly and went to find our spot. We got lucky somehow and got our same beach spot we had before! However the wind was blowing and the water was choppy. We drove around for a bit and found this cool wall made of clay! All the kids climbed out and went to work on their masterpieces while the adults sulked in the boat a little.
I was surprise how high they could climb and how easily they could write their names in the wall. Did I mention there was a land slide that closed the road a few months earlier?!
They all made it safely down though and we wasted a good 30 min letting them play in the dirt.
Rylee was so tired still and took a nap in the boat on dad while the kids played.
Finally after some lunch we decided to brave the water even if it was choppy. It was good tubing water but not so great for wakeboarding or much else. Carter didn't care and got right out there.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was seeing the bonding that happened. These kids just picked right up despite not knowing eachother well and became best buddies. We have longed for a cousin relationship like this for our kids. We just wish we were closer in distance to them!
We decided not to stay too late since we had a long drive ahead of us in the morning. But for the last ride of the night, all the cousins piled in the tube and went for a ride.
It was quite humorous to watch them all laughing and flying around! My heart was just so happy.
I don't remember what we did that evening. I think just chat and maybe eat treats. But I know in the morning everyone, including myself, didn't want it to end. We easily could have stayed a few more days to play. It's so nice to have siblings that you become so close to so easily and that you want to always be around. That is how we feel about Chet and Mindy. And I think they felt the same since Mindy spent one whole afternoon house shopping for us!
The ride home went flawlessly. The kids did amazingly well and were kind and happy. The last few hours were the toughest but still they did better than any road trip we've ever taken them on. It was nice to be back home and out of the car and back on a schedule a bit. But I think we'd all go back in a heart beat! Until next time SPOKANE!!
